LTC played the inaugural Rolling Stone Saturdaze event some four months ago. Here are our friends Ann Jangle taking on the fourth instalment.

There's generally a very cool community atmosphere at these things, and with cool weather coming up this summer, The Fat Cactus in Gardens is where it's going to be at.

911 What's Your Emergency? ~ Long Time Citizen + The Nick Turner Trio

“Music is like a language. Sometimes you understand each other,” says citizen Anton Marshall.
He and fellow citizen Greg Donnelly understand they met under alcohol-fuelled circumstances at the legendary Crazy Cats. Many roads have been travelled, resulting in Long Time Citizen. With their combination of acoustic guitar and bass, the duo describes their sound as a mixture of rockabilly, country and punk.
“I like countrybilly,” says Anton. “Country has the best stories, punk has the best energy,” says Greg.

They will be joined by the Nick Turner Trio – former Sons Of Trout singer/songwriter Nick Turner, whose music effortlessly spans genres, with influences ranging from rock, reggae and African to hip-hop, ghoema and jazz – along with Schalk Joubert on bass and Ashley Read on drums, both legends of the SA music scene.

Doors open 8pm, cover charge R30

CRABMAN, CRABMAN, CRABMAN

Nice words from the LMG for our shaw that night. But I think the heckler in question was just being from Plumstead. He was less heckling than he was trying to be heard in his own head. Also, I'm not sure we started with a Johnny Cash song that night. I could be wrong, though. I could be very, very wrong.

And I like The Pits. And of course the Jangle. Here's our best original song of the night!

UPDATE:
We re-made the calendar, so it should be working properly now. Also yes, I know it's been a while since we blogged, but we've got our bearings back after a year of crazy crazy work stuff. And there are some surprises for those who haven't seen us since this show.
