BIO: THE CITIZENS

GREG DONNELLY:

In 1987 Penguins In Bondage was formed; we shared the stage with the likes of Mango Groove, Johnny Clegg & Savuka, No Friends Of Harry, Psycho Reptiles, Dog Detachment.

The band recorded three singles, “All That Jazz”, “I Am The Prey” (included on Barney Simon’s Flying Circus compilation) and “S.O.S”.

The Dollyrockers was formed in 1990, released one vinyl EP “Consume Me” (1992) and 3 full albums, “The Dolly Rockers”(1995), “Glory Glory” (2002) and “The Heat”(2003). Through the years the band shared stages with the likes of Springbok Nude Girls, Buckfever Underground, Aardvark, and The Bantam Cocks.

The Dollys also had songs featured on the TV series, “Going Nowhere Slowly”, and I wrote the theme song for SA reality series, “Couch Trip”.

In 2003 I joined the Three Bored White Guys and the band recorded the album "We Been Robbed" in 2006.

On the solo front, I recorded a cover version of “Sheena’s in A Goth Gang” on an international Lux Interior tribute album – “Songs That Lux Taught Us”. I also have songs featured in the movie “Twist” and wrote a song for the play “Walking Joe”.

ANTON MARSHALL:

In 1993 I started recording as eracode, and in 1995 joined a light rock group called Common Scarlet. For several years I bounced around the music scene, playing one-offs with various projects until joining progressive metal / hard rock act Scarlet Host (must be a red thing).

At this time I also formed part of the regular house band at the legendary Crazy Cats bar, and joined up with The Dollyrockers to tour the album The Heat.

In 2003 I formed Three Bored White Guys with two of the guys from Crazy Cats and asked Greg to join shortly thereafter. The band went on to some live success in the city, along with an independent album "We Been Robbed" in 2006, on which I produced two of the tracks.

In 2008 I reformed a follow-up project called Three More White Guys, which is ongoing.

I've produced for and collaborated with former Copious vocalist Carolyn Beyer on an eracode project called "Structuralism" as well as an untitled second collection of songs.

As performer I've been attached to the successful professional stage shows Bob Dylan: Life, Love and Music produced by Andy Lund, and Rock Evolution produced by Jason Guile.

I also successfully produced 13 editions of "Countrybilly BBQ Breakout", a country and rockabilly-themed live music show between 2003 and 2006.
